Snow Sports
Winter may now be rolling round the bend for you. And if you live in Hong Kong, that usually means shooting off to somewhere like Canada, France or Switzerland.
Now what you need to think about, besides what the buy and pack for the trip is your fitness!
Is your body at a level where it can absorb constant impact from the moguls, or from landing on the packed snow over and over again? Snow sports may be fun, but they are all extremely dangerous sports if you haven’t prepared for them correctly.
That is why we offer sports specific conditioning for all you extreme sport fanatics out there.
We like to focus on building a strong core to keep your body strong whilst flying down the mountain at mind-boggling speeds or busting out a ‘360˚’ off a huge kicker.
Proper stabilisation and flexibility can also be a massive advantage to any snow sport athlete out there! Having the ability to change direction with no problems whatsoever and keeping your knees and ankles in line whilst your skis start shaking is important for your long term health.
General strength and endurance (especially in the lower body) is extremely important when it comes to snow sports. You don’t want to be fatigued after day one with a week left of your holiday. Your body needs to be strong enough to pick yourself up again and again after each tumble.
Either way, if you are thinking about heading off on a ski holiday and want to prepare your self physically and mentally then get in touch with us at Coastal Fitness for some sports specific conditioning.
